BKM’s first film ''Vizontele'' was the highest budgeted film in the history of Turkish cinema at the time. The film reached 3.7 million at the box-office breaking Turkish box-office records.
The film is about the introduction of television to a small village in southeast Anatolia in 1974. Employing a tragicomic language, it tells the efforts of Emin who is the village idiot, and Nazmi who is the Mayor of the village. Emin and Nazmi attempt to start the broadcasting of television in their village and face various difficulties in this process. The film drew a great deal of interest from countries such as Germany, Belgium, and Netherlands.
