Anasının Oğlu
Warm and lively tale of the whole lot!
Our story that kicks off with the mother of Lord Cano, the lord of the Derikfan Clan in Mardin, Mother Sidar, requesting a grandchild and reaches all the way to Istanbul.
Mother Sidar has been abandoned by his husband Lord Abdo thirty years ago and has been both a mother and father to her children Cano and Fırat. Her younger son Fırat has received education in Istanbul and to become a doctor. He lives a life distant to his family culture. Her elder son Cano, on the other hand, acts as the leader of the Derikfan Tribe and is a man who is made from the same mold of the region’s culture. Mother Sidar longs to have a grandchild and if a grandson isn’t born, the leadership of the tribe will be passed onto another family within the tribe. Cano is unable to meet this demand of his mother for the reason that he views his wife Rukiye as a sibling since he was unwillingly wedded to her by an imam marriage while he was sleeping as a result of the plot setup by his mother. However, Rukiye obsessively does not want to give up this marriage. Cano has never experienced a husband-wife relationship with Rukiye and doesn’t intend to do so. Thus Mother Sidar furiously travels to Istanbul, to visit her son Fırat. Since Cano won’t do it, she plans to ask her younger son Fırat for a grandson.
Cano, on the other hand, takes his right hand men Merdan and Cüneyt as well as Rukiye and embarks on a journey towards Istanbul to bring his mother back. Cano instantaneously falls in love with the gorgeous Lal sitting next to him on the plane.
Mother Sidar, arriving at the doorstep of her son Fırat in Istanbul, is unaware of the woman living together with him, since there is no place for such a relationship in the Southeastern culture and Fırat has kept this information secret. Psychiatrist Ece, a woman with a boyfriend, successful in her job, career-focused and with no intention for marriage and motherhood, is introduced as the maid as a result of Mother Sidar’s sudden raid. This lie, fabricated so Mother Sidar wouldn’t have a heart attack when she found out about this situation unknown to her, becomes irreversible once Cano and the other family members arrive. The Derikfan family starts to reside in Istanbul at Fırat’s house. Having given up hope on her elder son Cano, Mother Sidar lays her eyes on her other son Fırat, whom she thinks is single. She begins a quest for an auspicious fortune, a good bride for him. Her greatest desire is to wed him right away and hold her grandson in her arms in nine months time. Aware of this desire, Fırat cannot tell his mother about his girlfriend Ece, who has no aspiration whatsoever for marriage, because for his mother, Ece isn’t bride material.
On the other hand Cano notices that Fırat’s neighbor is Lal, whom he met on the plane. Cano’s happiness, however, sticks in his gizzard as he finds out about Lal’s boyfriend Haluk and the arrival of Afet, who has been obsessed with Cano for ages, in Istanbul. Not to mention the plots brewed by Rukiye, who notices her husband’s attention for another woman.
This cul-de-sac that the Derikfan Family fall into gets worse with the news of their bankruptcy. The glorious Lord Cano is now a penniless man of the people. However, he doesn’t give up. They decide to open the restaurant “Analı Oğullu Yöresel Tatlar – Regional Tastes with Mother and Son” together with his Mother Sidar, who always stands strong, as well as Merdan and Cüneyt. While Mother Sidar thinks everything is back on track, her husband Lord Abdo, who had left thirty years ago, saying, “I’m going to buy bread, I’ll be back,” shows up.
“Anasının Oğlu”, a family comedy viewers are very familiar with, tells the warm and lively tale of the whole lot.
